Accessibility

As part of a our ongoing website redesign, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture web team is commited to making our website accessible to as many users as possible, regardless of technology or ability.

The web team is constantly working to increase the usability and accessibility of our website. We are adhering to standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.

Our accessibility features include:

  • Using alternative text for images and non-text elements

  • Cross-browser compatibility

  • Responsive design

  • The use of headers to aid legibility

We are in the process of making our audio and video files more accessible by:

  • Having separate audio files for our videos

  • Adding closed captioning on videos
