Come learn how the millions of manuscripts acquired by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture are processed and made available to the public.
Did you know that October is Virginia Archives Month? Do you know what goes on in an archive? Archives house the materials essential to understanding our history and it’s the job of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture’s archivists to collect and organize those materials, ranging from letters written by founders of the nation to the papers that document the lives of everyday Virginians. Come make order out of chaos where our archivists will take you through processing a collection, and discuss steps of collecting, preserving, and making the history of Virginia available to anyone interested in researching the history of the Commonwealth.
