In any society there will be people who try to do harm requiring the creation of rules and laws.  However, society’s concepts of justice can change, and what was a crime in the past can become legal or vice-versa. Using the collections of the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, this Behind the Scenes program will examine legal episodes and changes in Virginia’s laws as they relate to witchcraft, rebellions, bootlegging, murder, and other crimes as well as the punishments that accompanied them.
