Honor the ultimate sacrifice made by Virginians in World War II with a moving ceremony at 1:00 pm that will commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the assault on Fortress Europe.

Make and Take Crafts – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Participate in hands-on crafts and activities that show how all Virginians did their part during times of war.
Stories at the Museum – 11:00 am and 2:00 pm (60 minutes)
Join us for a reading of Memorial Day and a flag-themed craft!
Film Screening – 11:30 am and 2:30 pm (75 minutes)
View a free screening of Bedford: The Town They Left Behind, which tells the story of Bedford, Virginia, the small community that lost more men per capita than any other in America on June 6, 1944.
Highlight Tours – 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm(30 minutes)
Take a highlight tour through our award-winning Story of Virginia exhibition as we discuss Virginia’s involvement in various military conflicts throughout history.
Memorial Day Ceremony – 1:00 pm to 1:30pm
Experience a moving commemorative ceremony inside the VMHC, featuring musical performances by the 392nd Army Band’s Brass Quintet.
