Collection Description

The Apostolic Christian Church Foundation is a non-profit organization founded February 28, 1952, by the trustees of the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean), for the purpose of creating a fund for spreading the gospel in the United States and foreign countries, visiting isolated churches and congregations, funding church construction, preparing and publishing educational materials and literature, representing member churches in legal and governmental matters, and establishing local committees for the promotion of the purposes and objectives of the foundation.

The organization was originally based in Mansfield, Ohio. In 1962 it moved to Akron, Ohio; in 1975, to Tremont, Illinois; and in 1992, to Richmond, Virginia.

The collection consists largely of corporate records, but also contains missionary materials, correspondence with members, and church related documents, as well as photographs and directories.

The Foundation's papers were deposited with the Virginia Historical Society by James M. Hodges, executive director. Conservation and re-organization have been undertaken to prepare this collection for research use. Funding for the processing of this collection was provided, in part, by the Foundation.
