Historical Note:The firm of Pollard & Bagby was officially founded in Richmond in 1894 as a real estate investment and management firm. John Bagby (1870-1934), Henry Robinson Pollard (1868-1932), and James Jeffries Pollard (1878-1931) formed the early partnership, and this collection includes a significant portion of their personal correspondence mixed in with the correspondence and operational records of the firm.
Scope Note: Company records primarily consist of correspondence and accounts covering the sale, purchase, and rental of properties in Richmond by individuals, companies, financial institutions, and governmental agencies. Personal papers scattered throughout the collection include letters from family members, including Charles Todd Bagby (1860-1843) and George Poindexter Bagby (1879-1934) of Baltimore, Md., and John Garland Pollard (1871-1937) of Richmond.
