The Virginia Museum of History & Culture seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Virginia History Day Coordinator. This individual serves as part of the Guest Engagement Division, reports to the Manager of Museum Programs, and will oversee the National History Day (NHD) affiliate program in Virginia.
The Coordinator will be the point of contact for all matters related to NHD in the commonwealth, which includes organizing the state-wide competition, working with regional coordinators to achieve the successful execution of district contests, providing training for History Day teachers and students, as well as researching and creating example projects based on the VMHC's museum and library collections. In addition, a successful candidate will work with stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, and history organizations) throughout Virginia while advocating for the program's growth.
Bachelor's degree in Education, History, or a related field of study.
Strong organizational skills, excellent customer service abilities, and experience organizing and/or running large-scale special events or programs, preferably for students and teachers, is required.
Previous experience with the National History Day program and teaching experience in a formal or informal educational environment preferred.
