Scope and Content Information

Land records including bonds, deeds, grants, indentures, surveys, and other papers establishing the chain of title of Richard Ambler's Jamestown Island property, which included the site of the original fort. Represented are Edward Ambler, Jacquelin Ambler, John Ambler, Robert Anderson, William Broadnax, Edward Jaquelin, John Knowles, Philip Ludwell, Jonathan Newell, Christopher Perkins, William Randolph (1650?-1711), William Randolph (1681-1742), and William Sherwood, among others.

Also, include wills of John Holder (d. 1687?), William Sherwood (d. 1698?), William Broadribb (d. 1703), and Richard Ambler (1690-1766), all probated in James City County, Va., and of William Randolph (1651-1711) of Henrico County and William Briscoe (d. 1700?) of Middlesex County, Va.
