The VMHC is currently closed for construction as we make strides to bring you a reimagined VMHC. The museum will remain closed to guests through early April 2021, but we will continue to offer a robust variety of virtual events and digital programs. We are conveniently located at the corner of Kensington Avenue and N Arthur Ashe Boulevard in Richmond’s Museum District, with parking lot entrance on Kensington Avenue. We are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. View a complete list of Guest Rules & Regulations.

As part of the national program, Museums for All, guests who present their SNAP or WIC EBT card or show the EBT app on
their phone will receive free admission to the Virginia Museum of History & Culture.
Suggested admission includes access to all (including special) exhibitions, library, and museum shop. Additional fees may apply to special events and programs.
Photography Policy
The Virginia Museum of History & Culture encourages non-flash and video photography for personal use unless otherwise specifically prohibited. For the safety of our visitors and collections, tripods and selfie sticks are prohibited. Please note that photography is frequently taken at the Museum for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in these images, please notify Guest Services upon arrival.
Members of the media seeking the opportunity to film within exhibitions space must clear their requests with the Manager of Public Relations and Marketing.
